The Tri-level Scorpionic Leap
by david on Dec.09, 2009, under Native American
We now address the first of our philosophical and psychological adjustments to the encounter with the Other indicated by the seventh house or Libran function. The sign of Scorpio is the eighth sign of the zodiac and rules the eighth house of the natural chart. It is the first sign to manifest in three levels and have three symbols to represent those levels. The scorpion, the serpent and the eagle. The most exoteric level is represented by the constellation and the sign of the Scorpion. This level contains all of the base or primal instincts represented by the scorpion. It’s poisonous sting, hunters cunning, and ferocious nature are all attributes of the human Scorpio at the exoteric level. Self destructive tendencies are amazing in the sign whose key phrase is ” I WILL”. When the will is thwarted in it’s outward manifestation it turns it inward in punishing or destructive ways. In the extreme it eliminates itself. When I was first studying the sign I was told to try the experiment of pouring lighter fluid in a circle around a scorpion and striking a match. Sure enough, rather than dare the flames the creature stung itself to death. A very interesting symbolic act concerning the transformational process of fire. Scorpio is considered the forceful water sign. Ruled by Mars, before the discovery of Pluto ( its’ natural ruler in my opinion), Scorpionic waters are represented by powerful rushing mountain streams which carve their paths and beds in solid rock. The force of water is a key symbol in understanding the development of life on this planet. Delivered to the earth in comet and asteroid collisions over millions of years, water was one of the first transformational elements shaping a hostile environment into one humanity ( an all other life as we know it ) could develop within. I can think of no other more powerful primal image than that of a water filled meterior smashing into the semi-molten earth at thousands of miles an hour. Dramatic, violent, deadly and thorough are all scorponic key words at the primal level. Willful manipulators, subtle, cunning agressors, powerful charismatic transformers and motivators. These are the willful scorpionic types you may meet at the primal levels. Their solution to many problems is to eliminate the cause, totally. To obliterate, obfuscate and render non-existant is the scorpio way to deal with an opponent. Extreme anything is appealing to the primal nature of the scorpion. Look! I know this sounds dramatic and you may well say,” Well, David, I know Scorpio individuals who aren’t like that!”. My reply is that you don’t know the total extent of the subtle scorpionic personality your are dealing with at the subtle level. No scorpio ( sun sign is the most blatant) will evel reveal the inner workings of their mind to any outsider at anytime no matter how close you are to them. These are individuals who keep their secrets to themselves, always. Of all of the people I read charts for these are the people who really don’t want me to reveal anything about their inner nature. They really don’t want me to know, much less anyone else! The next level of the sign is dramatically different, however, and by their reaction you can tell just what level of a scorpionic person you are dealing with at any given moment. I will discuss more of this in the next post.
Struggling to Get my Equipment Together!
by david on Mar.23, 2009, under Native American
I have been struggling to get my equipment together and it looks as if I will get going in a week or two. I have been recording interviews and learning how to edit them so that the content is to the point and interesting. As soon as my laptop gets here I will be posting audio blog material for your perusal. I am also finishing up my astrological series in the audio mode. Eventually it will be mostly audio since it is quicker than typing. I want to keep everything real and open so that you can get the idea of what it is like to live in the burbs of Louisville and practice Astrology and Tarot. I am working to make my living in this way rather than hire myself out to the media ( which I have lost faith in ) again as I have done since I was 17 and didn’t know any better. I had a ton of fun but in the end I just barely made a living and eventually couldn’t express myself in the ways I felt were natural and normal. Too much hype and too much bullshit! I want to be me and I want to be successful at being me and not my stage characters. These are my hopes. I will make a valiant effort to get something on here every day……..
Waziyata is a Mean Wind
by david on Feb.01, 2009, under Native American
I have been living through this very rough period by reading, watching movies, teaching bead work and chain sawing the limbs of our beloved pine trees off of the neighbors fences. It amazes me how these pines were flexible enough to withstand the bad wind storms of the past two winters but when the Ice came it was all over. The weight did what the movement couldn’t do and the limbs came crashing down. WOW! The yard looks like the aftermath of a W.W.II artillery bombardment. Gut wrenching to say the least. Fortunately most of it happened while we slept. We only heard a little of what must have been the horrendous sounds of limbs snapping off and slamming into the ground. I lived through Hurricane Hugo and listened for hours to the sound of pines of South Carolina snapping off as 125 mile winds broke them to pieces. After about 35 minutes something shuts down inside yourself and you become inured to it. Maybe the horrible part of this storm is the silence in which it occurs before the rending and snapping. I feel blessed that we didn’t have to survive this one out in the open.
ANYWAY all of this has distracted me from blogging and getting on with putting out the Astrology for those who are interested.

So we ate and prayed and laughed and shared and drummed and all those planets in Capricorn were very happy. So was the moon in Pisces! So was the Saturn/Uranus opposition. Very Harmonious! Tight! Like the Miami Sound Machine! Like Tower of Power! Yep! That’s what it was a Tower of Power! A beacon of light. The Ancestors love it! The spirits loved it! It was Lila Wakan!

Man! Has it been hectic but enjoyable. The cooking, smoking and burning continues as wave after wave of celebrants continue to trek through our Capricornian domain. Marissa and I are both Sea Goats born 3 days and ten years apart ( me the 25th and she the 28th of December ). It really works for both of us going on 17 years. We love to entertain once in a while and do come down off of our twin peaks to do so. We both can cook. It has been an international crowd this season with India, Netherlands, Pine Ridge, St. Louis,New England and etc. represented. Our new found Lakota brother is a 25 year veteran of the traditional sun dance which adds another spiritual dimension to the gathering. This New Year’s Drumming celebration will be bigger than ever. We both abstain and so we have provided a non-alcoholic haven for revelers who are looking for a different ceremony, native style, to bring in the new year. The chart looks like a powerful one with Moon in Pisces and 5 planets plus one asteroid in Capricorn ( in the fourth house no less). We are ready to raise the roof. We’ll send you the vibe should you not be able to make it. It’s part of our joint Filipina/Iroquoian tradition. Love is the answer and love is the key. Check it out!!! The Eagles are gathering.
Christmas Day & Beyond
by david on Dec.26, 2008, under Native American
Solar Return over and the Moon is now in the party sign of Sagittarius. I hope your Christmas Day was filled with the spiritual light of the returning sun/Son. It is my wish for all of you a year of raising vibrations and spiritual presence. We here in Kenfunky are continuing with a very quiet, peaceful, laid back celebration. The temp is fluctuating and we are receiving past our quota of life giving rain. This is a good thing. Marissa is meditating and we are preparing for another wonderful meal. Hope you are too. Our next focus is our traditional New Year’s Eve Drumming Ceremony. We have done this almost every year for the last ten years. Since we don’t drink and party away from our old Kentucky home anymore we have made this the Ceremony of choice for all non drinkers in our area. You all come. Good food Fine fellowship & Mystical drumming in the New Year. It is fast becoming traditional for we Kentucky Native Americans.

Another of my interests is the Tarot which I have studied since the fall of 1969. Murranda Arcane was my first mentor and through-out the 5 years of my initiation saw to it that I was not infected with the milarky past, so called “experts”, have heaped upon this divination device. To me the readings are a mirror of the internal state of the questioner, who with a little objectivity, can get the message projecting from the subconscious. The deeper meanings of this mirroring must be meditated upon for a thorough understanding. I must recommend The Underground Stream by Christine Payne-Towler for an interesting study of the Esoteric Tarot.
Tis the season

Ah! The winter solstice. This is the time of year when the hopes of mankind take on a primal patina. These are the longest periods of darkness. As the dark force makes itself known we might imagine our ancestors longing for the short nights and warm days of the spring. It is a this time that ” the Light ” is most important. May the ever present light from within your hearts warm you and bestow upon you the hope of the coming year. May the Light of the World shine down upon you on that most Blessed Day and give you peace. The 25th day of December is the day that the sun turns back. The symbology of that day is etched in our deepest awareness. May the Christ Light we have come to associate with Christmas Day despell all of your dark thoughts and bring you peace for ever more.
