The Libran Balance Point And Grand Yen of the Zodiac

by david on Oct.27, 2009, under Astrology

The Autumnal Equinox begins the process of meeting the outer world for the developing ego and in the plant kingdom a point is reached where life begins to withdraw into the seed. The juxtaposition is significant for the surface life, mammals, reptiles, insects etc.. Some will begin to retreat some will develop adaptations to the coming cold and remain active. The world balances all on the weakening of the suns’ rays. This begins the receptive principle of Yin. Mars/Aries represents the Grand Yang principle whereas Venus/Libra represents the opposite. Reaction,response,balance,harmony,in-breath,are all Libran concepts. The function of the kidneys ( which the Chinese refer to as the Masters of Life ) and the inner ear as well as the balance point in the human body ( three fingers below the navel ) are indicated. We stand erect and therefore the sense of balance has permeated, even our psychology. The balance of mind, body and spirit represents the Ultimate form of balance within the human organism and takes Libra into three levels which are not represented overtly in the symbolism of the sign. The symbol of Libra is the scale and it’s static position communicates harmony. So balance and harmony go hand in hand. It has been rightly said that Librans are shit disturbers as well. I have personally seen Librans ( male as well as female) enter a room that is quiescent and purposely stir people up as well as entering a chaotic group and calm things down. This is a human response to imbalance which motivates even the most reticent Libran. In essence, matter is constantly seeking balance with spirit as change is one of the only constants of the Universal. Matter is constantly seeking the return to energy while energy is constantly changing into spirit and spirit is constantly reforming into matter, etc. In this universal process of becoming beauty is being released and attracting which is the underlying Venusian principle as ruler of Libra.  In Natal interpretation, Venus represents centripetal force inherent in the birth pattern while Mars can be said to represent the centrifical force. Simply put, we draw to us those experiences, people, resources, and ideas we need in order to fulfill our birth pattern through Venus. Libra shows us where balance and harmony are achieved, usually in relationship of all kinds as we are dealing with social relationships in the 7th house which is the Natural house of Libra and Venus.

Astrological Pause For the Self of the Zodiac

by david on May.21, 2009, under Astrology

We have now covered in brief the first six signs of the Zodiac, which represent the self. The next sis signs represent how the self reacts or responds to different levels of the Other. How the self relates to it’s external environmental influences and what effect these influences may have upon the self. The first six signs represent active and passive subjectivity. The next six signs represent objective passive and active responses or reactions to life circumstances, including people. Virgo is the last of the subjective/passive responses and reactions and as such is deep and feminine in Nature. The female mysteries center around just how the organism knows what response to take to insure survival and prosperity. In Libra we have the apex of the Grand Yin. Virgo represents the complex organismic processes inherent in all human beings and how the sub-conscious portion of the ” Mind ” operates. Just how does the Nurturing given by the Great Mother work in relationship to Karma/Dharma, the outpouring of the soul and the conditioning of the environment including the parental input of language, culture, etc. Here we must pause and examine our concept of the Self for all of the cultural ideas world wide, past and present. Virgo is the field of the harvest of millions of years of evolution. She is impeccable and we are the fruit of the Great Mother’s labor.

The Earthly side of Virgo the Virgin

by david on May.20, 2009, under Astrology

The second earth sign is ruled by Mercury and a host of space junk some of which orbit between Mars and Jupiter called the Asteroid Belt. It figures doesn’t it. Every piece of flotsam and jetsam you can imagine get linked with the Great Compartmentalizer of the Zodiac, Virgo! Mercury isn’t really at home in this sign, as I believe the ancients were stuck when it came to divvying up the signs between only 7 planets. Oh, I also believe some of the ancients knew about the other 5 bodies in the solar system but that is another story for another time. I can see the major asteroids ( Pallas Athena, Ceres, Vesta, Juno and Chiron, etc. ) taking on parts of the responsibility of concretising the Virgoian message for humanity. It fits the forest and the trees saying about people born under the sign. Mercury really isn’t into minute details. This or that is good enough for the natural ruler of Gemini. If you check the take on all of the asteroids, however, you are gonna find that detailed thinking or it’s direct polar opposite figures heavily in all of their stories, including the ” Wounded Healer Chiron ” which has been over done don’t you think…or don’t you. Chiron gave Jason ( of the golden fleece fame ) enough info concerning the Mysteries to keep him going for years to come and then some. Pretty Virgo-esque! The Greeks supposedly put him in the sky as the symbol of Sagittarius but then the Greeks always got it backwards including their sexual practices now didn’t they. Intricacy, minute detail, translation of foreign languages, interpretation of symbols and so much more describes the Virgoan mentality not the Geminian nor the Sagittarian nor any other sign of the Zodiac! To the point=Sagittarius, wading through the details=Virgo. Quick scan of the facts on the surface=Gemini. The Virgoan loves the work, the challenge of it, the wading through. Not so the Gemini! Not so the Sagittarius! Messy details of healing, cleaning up the bodies, sewing up the wounds give it to the Virgo. The Virgo can see the Forrest and the Trees until stress sets in then it is the trees, the endless trees one at a time tree after tree. You have to pull them out by the ankles and demand they take R n R to get their mind right again. They have the elbow grease and the self effacing personalities to take on the most excruciatingly accurate minute tasks modern technology can set for them. Micro, nano you know I know doesn’t phase them a bit. This latter phase of the Piscean Age is their time. Compassionate, kindly, gentle and sharp as a tack. They are neat, except for that one closet or drawer or car which is just jammed and sloppy as hell. Don’t worry it is only a way to let you know they are in fact human. If of course you can find where they hide all of that stuff that doesn’t fit at the moment. Immaculate lovers! Punctual! Give you just what you have earned and no more or less. Got your spot under control and know how to use it against you of for you, depending! You get what I mean. The sign, is after all about the ego’s adjustment to the not self, the other. In Virgo and under Virgoian command the adjustment is perfect. The self and the not self fit like an expensive glove should. O.K. O.K. so I am being idealistic! But this is the best you can count on from the sign of the Great Harvest! Don’t you think it was a Virgo who dreamed up the Armageddon wherein only the ” chosen ” would be taken and the rest would be left out like so much chaff separated from the wheat. The end of the Piscean age is about the grounding and anchoring of the Great Visions of the last 2150 or so years. The outcome will be perfect because the forces which abound in the reflex of the Pisces Picture are Virgoian. The mills of the Gods grind slowly and they grind exceedingly fine. Virgo!

The Mysteries of The Virgo and the Virgin

by david on May.17, 2009, under Astrology

The esoteric side of Virgo is all wrapped up in the Christ Consciousness which has been permeating the Earth since the beginning of the Piscean Age. Virgo is the reflex action of the Piscean Wave or maybe an inner harmonic. As we have progressed or regressed thru the Age, depending on your predilection, the Virgoan counterpoint has concretized the great mystical movements into compartmentalizations. These are the dogmas of the great religions. Spiritual impulses have become ritualized and then religions have formed as the impulse to a raised planetary vibration has reverberated through the human species or civilization. Only in very few instances have humans resisted the impulse to religion and maintained their spiritual practices. In the Esoteric sense Virgo is the urge the Great Mother has to shield or protect the hidden Christ. In the Exoteric sense the Harvest is the out come of the impulse to individualization. The Woman with the shafts of wheat is the common Cosmic Image we are given from the ancients. The time of harvest is the Virgoan time in the Northern Hemisphere and the image is obvious to the Agrarian Civilizations which have arisen and fallen in this Age. Great Images have withered to give birth to others as step by step mankind has drawn nearer and nearer to a quantum leap into the void of space and time indicated by the culmination of a Great Cycle. The Greeks saw this Era as a harvest of sorts as their symbolism indicates. The Christians see this as the Harvest of perfected souls in the Armageddon which they believe will culminate with the end of this Age. The Hindus call it the Kali Yuga. Just what is the implication of the Sign in terms of Human behavior? First, the Vestal Virgin is not a celibate! She is sexual but not procreative.  When she does procreate she looses her status and becomes the Great Mother who blesses the world with the fruit of her labor. She doles out her bounty according to the Natural Law of the Earth. Virgo is the Impeccable One! Her Harvest is an indisputable bounty! She is absolute in her richness as well as in her eternal renewal. As the power of the Sun begins to wane in the Northern Hemisphere, the plant kingdom prepares for the onslaught of the Winter by laying down it’s seeds in order to perpetuate life. It is here when Civilization in the North realizes its fate and fortune.  Virgo is the time of accounting. The work of the harvest, the backbreaking labor in the fields takes on the sacred context of assurance. Mankind can face the hard winter when the Harvest is in and accounted for and a time of prediction or forward looking is eminent. Of the Human signs of the Zodiac ( Gemini, Aquarius, and Virgo ) only Aquarius is beyond the earth realm having to do with the Heavens. Gemini is truly human representing the male and female duality in many species but Virgo is the Earth in the role of the great Nurturer. I see Virgo as dualistic like all of the mutable signs are supposed to be. Esoterically, Virgo didn’t affect humanity in Lemurian times because Humanity wasn’t in its’ present form as we know it. Humanity was androgynous! I see Virgo as still an Androgynous figure containing both male and female but outwardly female and hiding or shielding the male component within. I see this as an analogy of the literal earth. Crust on the outside protecting the atomic fire within. Yin obscuring Yang! I see this as the Great Mystery of the Life of this planet. The metaphysics of the planet leads us to understand a key to the release of potential in a magnetic sense. I see the polarity of the Mutable Cross as Neutral which encompasses both positive and negative electrical charge in a whirling field of a whirling source. More later!

Leo: The Astrological Heart of the Zodiac

by david on May.09, 2009, under Astrology

The exoteric Leo is concerned with the heart and circulatory system and with the cerebral spinal system, both critical to the functioning of the organism. One concerns the supply of nutrients and oxygen to the brain and vital organs the other system concerns the electromagnetic flow of life force through out the system. In an esoteric sense Leo has the same function as it concentrates and radiates the spiritual essence of the being. Identity is more than superficialities in this world. Identity concerns how the one relates to the whole and vice versa. It is here that the importance of the inner life connects with the importance of the outer life. Anything that disrupts or seeks to modify that relationship is deleterious to the whole. While the whole is greater than the sum of its’ parts, each part is vital to the whole and is never lost to the process. Leo is truly the King in this sense. The concept of ego, id and superego is superficial in relationship to the importance of the function of the one to the whole. When we consider this we can truly understand how special we are in the sense of our Dharma/Karma as the Hindu’s would conceive. The complexity and the simplicity is one of the great paradoxes. The one and the many..the many and the one. The Cosmic Human and the human being are really one and the same but separated by function and identity. Leo is the crossroad between the outer and the inner life. In creative function life is a point and a circle in two dimensions which hints at a multitude of dimensional possibilities. In an electromagnetic way attraction and repulsion equally balanced holds us in point and through imagination we may expand and contract from the periferia to the point infinitely aways defined by our unique identity. This is the true heart of the concept of Leo.

The Heart of The Leo Matter, Astrologically!

by david on May.05, 2009, under Astrology

Individuation is the key to understanding the next step in the unfolding of the human drama. The Fifth sign of the Zodiac is the sign of the Lion, Leo. Under the sign of Leo ruled by the Sun we discover the real heart of the matter, especially when it comes to us our self, the ego and identity. This is the point where we express our individual need. This is the place where we project outward the image we have of our self and hope to impress others who will recognize us and gravitate to us for whatever reason, usually to fulfill a need. Here is where vitality is transformed into personality and where soul is focused through the lens of ego. The strength of the ego is forcefully radiated in the sign of Leo like the roar of the lion. That is usually enough to inform the creatures of the environment, the King/Queen is here.

When I said above,” The heart of the matter “, I was letting slip the esoteric secret of the sign of Leo. The heart of  the solar system is the sun. IT is the animating force and the source of all that is seen to be the human “body” in relationship to the cosmos as a whole. The solar system, as we are discovering it ( step by painful step ) is the super man, the cosmic man, the form of our being in as broad a context as we can ever objectify.  In a way it is the One God of the Piscean Age or Gods if you will.  It is our environment, our identity and our source. I once remarked in a discussion on World religions, ” Humanity worships itself in the form of the Sun of our solar system and has never had the intelligence to break through that illusion into the realm of the true Creator.” The heart of the solar system and the heart of our own body are one and the same. They even function in a similar manner as pumps, however this is only the surface of the Mystery of Life in this part of the Galaxy. It is the radiant power of the Sun which engenders Life as we know it in its many forms on the earth and through out the system. Leo is the heart of the Zodiac as the Greeks learned it from the earlier civilizations and the esoteric systems encoded in all of the ancient Zodiacs made the fixed cross ( Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius ) the foundation of the human being as Cosmic Man.

When you are following your heart you are being driven by the radiance of the Sun, your Ego is being illuminated by the radiance of the Sun and you will be recognized by others as greater than yourself. Humility is the stance of one whose identity is being recognized as beyond ego and representative of the power of the deity. You are seen as selfless and the selflessness in others is being reinforced by the selflessness you are projecting and thus not seen as ego. Leo’s at their greatest are heart people and they draw other people like the Sun draws water from the Earth to form clouds. The Leo represents the perfect form. The Ideal Form. It is because of the mere presence of an open mind and an open heart. Warmth, generosity, congeniality and compassion for all is the pure Leonine stance. It is the most positive of the positive signs of the entire Zodiacal matrix. I will look at the down side or Leo and more ESOTERIC qualities in part II of Leo, the Heart of the Matter, Astrologically!

The Summer Solstice Sign..Cancer..The Crab

by david on Apr.13, 2009, under Astrology

It has taken me a while to get my thoughts together on Cancer. It is one of the deepest and most mysterious signs of the Cardinal Cross. The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year and occurs at the beginning of the sign, so for the next month the sun’s rays are at such an angle the Earth is deeply penetrated. The obvious phallic implication reinforces the fertility concept picked up by all primal civilizations. This is the time to welcome "New Souls" onto the planet. This is the  time when the solar pathway is the clearest, strongest and most powerful. Yet, Cancer is ruled by the reflected light of the Moon! Another paradox with an occult meaning to keep the uninitiated on the surface of things. This is the seat of the soul in one sense and the emotional body in another. Cancer is the pool, the lake, the well! Any still body of water which reflects the sky is the sign of the Crab and it’s main attribute is containment. It is the sign of clairvoyance, seer-ship,knowing without going outside of its door as the Chinese Taoist is want to say. Cancerians, like the symbolic Crab, carry their home on their backs where ever they roam. They are some of the greatest and most enduring travelers of the Zodiac. They are built to make a home where ever they find themselves.  Cancer represents the nurturing environment, the home, the subconscious and the life giving principle of form. In the body Cancer represents the stomach, the breasts and the emotional body. In the life process Cancer represents the urge to manifest and the process of incarnation is a result. In relationship to the spirit, Cancer is a symbolic place of imprisonment the soul, a record of all impact on this plane of existence.  It represents the Light within the form awaiting the light of spirit. Cancer in a manner of speaking is the First gate into incarnation. The lighted temple. Keep a light in the window to guide us home is a truism of the deepest magnitude. Cancer is feeling too and clairsentience is also one of it’s manifestations and maybe even deeper than clairvoyance. The key word is stillness but in the Esoteric Astrology of Alice Bailey one  can read this sign is concerned primarily with the world of causes.  Mysterious essence in the Biblical phrase, divinity in motion. From Genesis,  The spirit of God moved across the face of the waters. The depth of the void is unfathomable in the black of darkness. God, the spirit, the soul and the body all come into intimate relationship in the sign of Cancer. It is in the reflected light of the Moon where we can grasp the truth of our being and purpose. And the relationship between the Sun and the Moon as consorts in the birthing of man begets our Karma as well. Cancer is a deep well and the reflection of the light of Spirit is a sign felt in the heavens.

Cancerian personalities are yin even the men are more laid back and the women are more silent than their Gemini or Leo neighbors. They are representative of the nurturing qualities of feeding, protecting and sheltering. Fierce in defence and voracious in hunting their prey, Cancerians are formitable adversaries and valiant friends. Their greatest enemy is the unknown and if truth be told the unknown within themselves rather than the unknown of the outer world. Home loving Cancerians can provide and make a home anywhere they roam. I always loved the analogy of the hermit crab who finds a home in an abandoned seashell and appropriates it to cover its body as it travels the ocean bottom. Its sideways motion describes the Cancerian attack stratigedy. The flank attack is better than the frontal assault to the Crab. Encircling its prey the Crab will attack when and where it is least expected. Sensitive, soft and yielding within a rough tough exterior, that is Cancer.

The Dual Aspects of Gemini Part II

by david on Apr.05, 2009, under Astrology

The sign of Gemini is given some of it’s deep meaning in Alice Bailey’s Esoteric Astrology first published by Lucis Press in 1951. In it she says that Gemini is one of the most important of the 12 signs and its’ influence lies behind every one of them. She claims the reconciliation of all of the opposites is inherent in the airy triplicity and through the sign of Gemini we recognize the duality principle of for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction as well as all the dualities. Gemini is also the constellation through which the Cosmic Love of God principle is channeled to this solar system. Mercury being assigned by the Ancients to the sign as its’ ruler further indicates the brain/mind in the human organism and esoteric ideas from the Tibetan who channeled to Bailey further illuminates our mental constructs. Bailey also says that Gemini represents the Heart of the sun. Ever notice how solar flares on the sun’s surface disrupt communications on the Earth’s surface. Well, it goes deeper than that as the connection between the sun and the electromagnetic field of the earth ( and all of the other planets for that matter ) is filtered ( if you will ) through the orbit of Mercury, the ruler and mediator of Gemini. The pillars of Hercules, Jachin and Boaz the initiates, are represented in the Glyph for Gemini and the spirit of the Watcher on the Threshold is a Geminian essence. Relatedness as in this is related to that is Geminian. All of these concepts are primal and therefore foundational and thus Gemini is called the First or Primitive or primal sign. It is also referred to as the sign of the divine messenger which is another Mercurial association. Through the sign of Gemini many of the world prophets appear. The Messenger of the Gods, if you will, have the attributes of accuracy, clarity, succinctness, memory and speed. There is no emotion at this level just the stillness associated with the presence of the Word. In conclusion, for I could go on and on, Gemini is not shallow and as a counterpoint to the galactic center found in Sagittarius, the sign is one of the pillars of the galactic consciousness within which humanity has and is developing.

The Twins and Other Astrological Dualities

by david on Apr.03, 2009, under Astrology

Time to take a look at Gemini! Then look again at Gemini from a different angle! Twins! Get IT! LOL!

This is the primal air sign and within it’s symbolics lies a deep understanding of the human neural chemical network, or as we moderns like to call it the hard wiring. The air element implies a connecting , buffering layer between the fire and earth elements or if you will a mediator between the two externally. Internally it is the precise balance of tiny amounts of atmosphere ( watch out for that word) which separate and regulate the two. This balance is a form of communication which enables the two elements to exist in proximity without consuming or stifling one or the other. This form of regulation exists in all mass. For instance, it is the ” Glue ” which maintains the integrity within the organic forms of life and gives shape to those forms, to all forms. Communication on one hand and ritual on the other. Same thing two views! Gemini! What is it which differentiates a stomach cell from a heart cell in a living organism? How does a stomach cell “know” it is a stomach cell and not a heart cell? Communication and ritual! The regulating principles are symbolized by the dual principle. Duality! Order on one hand Chaos on the other. Modern physics is now discovering the order in Chaos and the chaos in the order. Sounds like the Chinese principles of Yin and Yang. Doesn’t it! However don’t oversimplify this construct. Don’t be shallow! This is foundational, primal knowledge. Nothing superficial here. The Gemini personality is often considered shallow or superficial skimming the surface and lacking real depth. Well, maybe, not really.  Fact finding always has a hidden agenda a deeper cause than what it would seem to an outside observer. There is ALWAYS another side to consider. Maybe it should be said that Gemini can easily reflect the superficial thus concealing the deeper meaning. Ask a researcher how many false leads she has followed to a dead end before the path way through was discovered. The Gemini personality is very clever at mind games, puzzles and surface mechanics, at psyching out the way things are put together. Part two is coming up!
