The age of Taurus was a time when Civilization all over the planet was growing away from the concept of connecting through the Natural world and adopting the mandate of planetary control. The Ancient Hebraic Tradition, especially, sums it up with the idea that” God gave man dominion over the earth.” Materialism in its’ most potent form is embodied in the Taurian principle of the cube. The four corners of the Earth. Matter, form, substance, solid. This is the first of the fixed signs. Fruitful, fertile, and life supporting. With Aries the spark of life, with Taurus the Form life takes. With Aries the Crown and the Third Eye form the horns of the ram, with Taurus the throat becomes the strength of the Bull. Domesticated animals bent to the will of the growing civilization. Nature in support of humanity. The concept of mastering the form as driving the bull plowing the earth and feeding humanity emerges into the consciousness of Western Civilization. The force of Aries is concentrated, shaped and stored for future use in Taurus. The molten magma of the Earth interacting with the void produces the crust upon which plant, animal and fish feeds for survival. The mineral kingdom is the solid form the plants and animals is the moving manifestation of the Gaea ( as the Greeks would say ) or Maka Akan of the Ancient Lakota Holy People. The grandmother of us all. Taurus is considered Feminine. Aries is considered Masculine. Aries is ruled by Mars while Taurus is ruled by Venus in the Ancient system. Here is where I come to my first insight into the modification of the ancient system. The Earth rules Taurus not Venus considered the ancient ruler. The Earth is the full embodiment of the Taurean principle of form in my estimation. Years ago I discussed this with Lona Messinger who in 1975 self published The Earth Primer an Esoteric Journey where in she outlined her concepts of adding the earth to the natal chart and reading it for clients in an esoteric context. Adding the effects of the Earth on the individual horoscope is complicated and in its’ infancy even at this lade date in the history of the growth and development of Astrology. The argument is that it is to subjective a matter to include in the star lore orientation of the ancients. However, there are basic principles which need to be illuminated about the earth which will enhance and balance the entire Astrosystem we Western Astrologers are refining, in my opinion. More on this tomorrow.
Taurus’ symbol is the circle of spirit mounted by the crescent of soul creating the crude face of the bull. The soul over spirit emblem inferrs pure unconscious union and balance. Unlike the symbol for the earth which is the cross within the circle of spirit. Examine these three basic concepts. Crescent of soul, circle of spirit, cross of the divided form. The trinity of Life as we know it as humanity. more tomorrow. Meditate on these three tonight and see what you come up with concerning Taurus.

Hi! I googled Lona Messinger and your site came up. I’m trying to find a contact for a Lona Messinger who is an astrologer and psychic I used to know from Kansas City Missouri. At some point she moved to Questa (I think) Colorado. If this sounds like the “Lona” you reference would you be so kind as to forward contact information? Thanks for your help!
